Eight Wines To Try & Delight
Cossetti Gavi AED 57
Another great little Italian wine, has great citrus fruits and crisp acidity. Beautifully balanced with a Sauvignon Blanc appeal.
Food -Chili prawns Drink – Now
Madfish Semillon Sauvignon Blanc AED 69
This is a great wine with incredibly intense flavours of citrus and grassy fruits, balanced with a rich mouth feel and a creamy texture that over delivers on price and quality.
Food – Rocket and spinach salad with parmesan Drink – Now
Errazuriz Wild Ferment Chardonnay AED 87
Often voted one of the best Chardonnay’s in the New World, wild fermented wines are notoriously difficult to produce and incredibly labour intensive. Errazuriz seems to be able to do it better than most and certainly better than anything else we have tried at this price point.
Food – Roast chicken Drink – Now-3 years
St Hallett Poachers Blend AED 45
This is the same blend as the Madfish but rather than being bold and brash it is elegant and subtle. The wine still delivers a concentration of flavour that we expect from Australia but is a little more sophisticated.
Food – Thai chicken salad Drink – Now
Zonin Bardolino AED 36
The balance of tomatoes, basil and rich mozzarella cheese perfectly integrated on a thin wood fired base is hard to beat. Add a glass of Bardolino and well, it’s impossible to beat!
Food – Pizza Drink – Now
St Hallett Gamekeepers Shiraz AED 45
Think Australian wine and it shouldn’t take too long to think of the Barossa Valley and ultimately Shiraz. A marriage made in heaven that delivers on taste (vibrant dark fruits with hints of pepper and spice) and on price…
Food – Roast pork with apple sauce Drink – Now
Pascal Jolivet Attitude Pinot Noir AED 87
The Attitude Pinot Noir exhibits all the hallmarks of great Pinot Noir. It’s not red Burgundy, but it is French – this time coming from the other place in France that makes Pinot Noir, the Loire Valley.
Food – Twice cooked roast duck Drink – Now
Robert’s Rock Cabernet Merlot AED 32
A medium bodied wine from Paarl in South Africa. It’s extremely well structured and even better priced.
Food – Spaghetti bolognese Drink – Now
